Daniel Barrett

(October 12, 1946 – April 16, 2017)

After a brief battle, following a tragic workplace accident, Dan passed away peacefully on April 16, 2017 surrounded by his family and friends.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Jeanette, their 2 daughters Tiffany (Jeff) and Kristen (Tom), his brother Louis (Brenda), sister Valerie (Ron), brother-in-law Jim (Barb), and numerous nieces and nephews. ‘Papa’ will also be greatly missed by his beloved grandchildren Sam, Charlie, and Sophie. He was predeceased by his father Bud, mother Marion, and sister Shelah.

Dan had a smile that could light up a room. He was always ready and willing to lend a hand to help with projects, both big and small, and was infamous for his duct tape bandages. He loved golfing and playing cards, enjoyed sharing a rum and a laugh with his friends, and had very close and special relationships with his grandchildren. He was a kind, genuine, and thoughtful man who touched many people’s lives in ways that are far too numerous to recount here.

Our family sends a heartfelt thank-you to the emergency response personnel and emergency staff at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital and Winnipeg Health Sciences Centre for their care, skill and compassion.

A Celebration of Dan’s Life will be held on Sunday, June 11 from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m .at the Kenora Golf & Country Club. Please join us to share stories, laughs and memories. Speeches begin at 2:00 pm.
