Divena Anne Katcheconias (Nimkee Nupigawagon) Bear Clan February 26, 2002 – September 2, 2020

We sadly announce the sudden passing of our beloved daughter Divena on September 2, 2020 in Kenora, Ontario.

She leaves behind her mother: Ana Shebegegit and father Albert Katcheconias, brothers Bishop, Jared, Dimitri, Luke, Tical, sisters Sativa, Nirti, Sindel, Zira and Mercy. Her grandparents Clare Katcheconias (Sherman Kabestra), Aime Chartrand, Norman Shebegegit and many other uncles, aunties, cousins and close friends.

She is predeceased by her grandma Dorothy Shebegegit, aunties Valarie and Monica Shebegegit, cousins Cassandra Katcheconias and Lucas Petiquan.

Divena will be greatly missed by her caregivers Roz and Ryan Tio and their extended family.

Divena was a sweet and gentle soul that had a flair for coming up with the most outrageous things to say. She pondered deeply on things that interested her and would come up with the most interesting of questions. It was never a dull moment in conversation with her, she was smart but shone brightest when tested physically. She excelled at sports and would regularly come away from competitions with awards. Divena loved animals and took great comfort in their company.

A Wake service will begin on Monday, September 14, 2020 at 3:00 pm at the Dog Paw Community Centre. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at the Dog Paw Community Centre beginning at 11:00 am with burial to follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.

I met Divena when I was employed at LEAP. She became my summer student and I had the privilege of helping her one to one learn a variety of job search skills so she could get a job. Divena was just a sweet quiet girl and very shy. Once we got to know each other a little more she opened up and we had some good talks. She became more determined to learn as she really wanted to work. Her confidence came through and she obtained a job through all of her hard work. My sincere condolences go out to her family and friends. A life cut way too short. Hold on to the wonderful memories close to your heart as they become oh so very precious.
