Donald was a very loving father and grandpa. He was so proud of his son, watching him grow up and be the best dad to his children. He was always talking about his grandkids, who he adored very much. Those who knew him, will remember him for his humour. He was a very funny guy who liked to tell jokes. He was always laughing and smiling. He had the most beautiful character and was also very fashionable, everything from his leather jackets to his fancy hats.
Donald had many interests and hobbies. He enjoyed travelling with his family to various church meetings. He enjoyed singing and drumming. His favorite song to sing was “If that isn’t love” by Dottie Rambo. He would call his sister Laura whenever he wanted to go to a service, and they would travel to places together. Donald loved his family so much.
Donald also really liked to go out on the lake to go fishing, his favorite fishing partner was Billy. He really enjoyed the excitement of reeling in the bass. He spent a lot of time on the lake, whether it was just for a cruise on the pontoon with family or out with his brother on the boat.
In his prime he really enjoyed playing sports with his cousins and close friends. There are so many stories about their younger years when they would play soccer, baseball and basketball at the point. He was also one of the original members of the Shoal Lake Flyers Hockey team. Another hobby that Donald had was playing Poker & Cribbage. He would enter the local tournaments and events that the community would host.
Donald’s memory will be forever cherished as he has touched so many people’s hearts. He was a gentle, loving and caring man. He will be truly missed.
The Family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Shoal Lake #40 Medical team, mobile crisis team and Chief and Council. Also, the wonderful nurses and doctors at the LOTW Hospital dialysis unit.
