Doreen Shirley (Longe) Venus March 30, 1933 December 7, 2019
It is with broken hearts that we have to announce the passing of our beautiful mother, Doreen.
Left to mourn her passing are her two daughters, lris (Marcel) Caron and Sherry (David) Green. Grandchildren Dan (Sheri) Caron; Rejeanne Caron; Tyler (Samantha) Green and Riley (Jacinna) Green. Great grandchildren Averie, Tallen, Blayklee, Beaux, Taylor and Luke.
Also left to mourn her passing is her eldest sister Joyce (Vern) Cooke.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Jack Venus in 2AO7. She was also predeceased by her parents Roger and Bertha Longe; and her siblings Rod, Glady and Marie.
Our mother was a favourite Auntie to many, there was always an open-door policy for anyone that wanted to stay whether for a day or forever. She enjoyed being creative and spent many hours decorating real eggs, which was only one of the many crafts she enjoyed doing. Mom enjoyed her role as a stay at home wife and mother. We were blessed to have her with us at home filling the house with love, baking and laughter. She will forever be remembered for her beautiful smile, her big heart and generosity.
Our mother was never one that enjoyed being the centre of attention, and as such the family will hold a private get together to honour her at a later date.
We are grateful for the staff at Pinecrest that went above and beyond to show compassion to our mother. We would like to especially thank Sandy Moss for all her care and love. Mom truly enjoyed her time with her.
Also, a big thank you goes out to Dr. Michele Thomas, Dr. Sean Moore, Dr. Susan Ghazali, Dr. Mandy Spencer, Tracy Stasiuk, Sheri Grafham-Caron, the two Dana's and the rest of the amazing nurses on 2nd floor Palliative care. You all did everything possible to make our mother comfortable in her last hours and we will forever be grateful.
Mom will join dad for eternity at their resting spot in the Forget Me Knot Columbarium in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
In tears we saw you sinking, We watched you fade away, You faced your task with courage, Your spirit did not bend. And still you kept on fighting Until the very end. God saw you getting tired When a cure was not to be, So He put His arms around you, and whispered “Come to Me”. So when we saw you sleeping So peaceful and free from pain, We could not wish you back To suffer that again. Always remembered and forever missed By your family and friends.
