Douglas Redsky April 7, 1959 - February 18, 2021
In the late morning hours of February 18 Doug was sent on the start of his journey home. He was 61 years old. The struggle with his health and the battle with his body failing him over the past year he was left very tired, and as much as he fought to stay - he was meant to go home. Doug was a natural teacher. He helped keep the Language strong in his home community of Shoal Lake 40 by being their Language Teacher at Ojibway Heritage School for more than 20 years. Like his father, he loved nature; Trapping, hunting and his number one love, fishing. Both on the open lake during the summer months and out on the ice during the freezing months. Dad also enjoyed his puzzles, watching the news, Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy which all kept his mind sharp as a knife. Doug is survived by his children Jennifer and Jonathan, the mother of his children Lorraine, and their grandsons Chasyn and Xandreden. His sister Diane (Melvin) his nieces who were also like daughters to him, Tania (Jonson) and Charmaine. More of his grandchildren Brent, JT, Jongirl as she was dearly referred to by Doug. Rowen, Stephan and Kendall. Great grandchildren Tyla, Nova and Mitch. As well as Aunty Sarah Borsfai. He will also be missed by numerous other grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins too many to name. Doug will be remembered for his kindness, generosity, and sense of humour as he was the King of “Dad Jokes”. His devotion, love and support to friends and family will be greatly missed. “Paamaa menawaa” till we see each other again, we love you dad.

Condolences to Doug's family. I had the pleasure of working alongside Doug for a few years at the Ojibway Heritage School. Doug was always pleasant and always had some sort of insughtful banter and stories. Doug was always there for others as much as he could be, and very supportive. It was a privilege to know him.
