Elmer was born to John and Eliza Fisher. He was raised in Whitedog, he moved to Kenora in his teenage years to attend high school, after he graduated he became a teacher and Coach. Elmer leaves two sisters, Nona and Helen; two brothers, Jacob and Leonard; 7 nieces; 13 nephews; and cousins from the Bigblood, Fisher, Boyd and Scott families. He also had relatives from Grassy Narrows and Dalles.
Elmer is predeceased by his loving wife Sarah whom he missed very dearly; his beloved sister Margaret Fisher-Cameron; parents John and Eliza; Grandparents, Sophie, Peter Fisher, Edward and Catherine Bigblood (nee Boyd).
Elmer was a teacher, he worked at Wabaseemoong School, he worked at Lakehead University as a professor during the summers teaching a Native Language Program, Beaver Brae, Thomas Aquinas, King George, St. Louis and Kejick Schools. He worked for Weechitewin, family services and Abinooji Children Services. This year in September he would have celebrated 35 years of sobriety. He made many friends in AA, Elmer was a loving man and dearly loved his nieces and nephews. We all will miss you.

Pallbearers will be his nephews; Jermaine Fisher, Jamie Walder, Warren Cameron, John Fisher, Oscar Cameron and Jordan Fisher.
A Wake Service will take place at the Norman Community Hall on Monday, February 24, 2020. A Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2020 at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
