July 30, 1944 – September 6, 2019
Eva Delorme (Alcock)
Eva, age 75, passed away in the early hours of September 6, 2019 at her residence with family by her side.
She was born on July 30, 1944, in Kenora, a daughter of Ann and Frank Alcock.
Eva was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Albert Delorme Jr. and her son, Bradley. Eva leaves behind to mourn her daughters, Debby Forbes (Jerry) and Cathy Canfield (Terry), her four grandsons, Tyler Forbes, Ryan Forbes (Mallory), Darrian Canfield and Jason Canfield (Kara) and two great granddaughters, Gwen and Piper Canfield. She also leaves behind Shirley Samson, Karl Samson and fur baby, Sam who all gave her a lot of joy. Living with Shirley the last four years has been so comforting and loving, mom decided to make her an honorary daughter. Mom also leaves behind many friends and relatives, who will miss her and cherish her memory.
Over the years mom held a variety of jobs, first being a waitress at the Log Cabin. She then managed the kitchen at the Rabbit Lake Drive Inn. She enjoyed working there and over the years mentored a variety of young employees. She moved over to Woolworths, again in the kitchen and then she decided to open a Daycare Centre in her home. Due to health issues, she retired and devoted herself to her family.
Having grandsons completed her world. She was either shopping for them, slipping them some cash, baking for them, crocheting for them or bragging about them. They will all miss her deeply.
Some of the things she loved to do was preserve the various vegetables that Dad grew and then share the bounty with family and friends. She loved cooking and baking and nothing made her happier than sending you home with food. Later on she had so many requests for her homemade perogies, she started selling them and could barely keep up with the demand. You could also sometimes find her playing bingo, going to Warroad or playing Yahtzee. As her family members finally had more than enough knitted and crocheted items, she started volunteering with the Ladies in Black and supplied them with a steady stream of blankets, hats, mitts, socks and baby items. She was very proud of the items she donated over the years.
Mom was plagued with a variety of health issues and appreciated the care of so many. Recently, Alexis Peplinskie and her team, who all made it possible for mom to pass away at home, as per her wishes. Without them this would not have been possible. We cannot tell you enough how much all of your kindness, compassion and encouragement was appreciated. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Dr. Bowerman, who supported mom for the last 20 years, whom she trusted and respected. All of the health professionals at the Lake of Woods District Hospital, St. Boniface Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre. We thank everyone for keeping her around as long as you did.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial gifts may be made to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation. Mom has been a monthly donor for years and felt that everyone needed the hospital at one time or the other.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at the Super 8, Minis Hall on Sunday, October 20, 2019 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

My deepest condolences to Eva's family, she was a very good friend of mine. I loved her and enjoyed our time together.
She would phone me at 5:30 a.m. to come up and eat cinnamon buns, fresh bread or perogies; of course I always went. Eva was a very giving person.
I'll miss her.
