George Assin - Sturgeon Clan

May 5th, 1945 - August 27th, 2010

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, brother, uncle and good friend. George had left for the spirit world on August 27th, 2010 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.

He leaves to cherish his memories to his children Barry (Glenda) (Reggie, Bella, Gimiwan), Paul (Josephine) (Chantz, Blayze, Bryce, Nathaniel, Jordan, Jayda) and Kristol (Steve) (Katja (Robert), Brandon (Missy) (Aaliyah), Shaquille, Shaneal, RJay). Also his brothers Art (Janis) and Colin (Lucille) (Bernice, Evelyn, Tony, Ernie, Clarence), and his special niece Annette (Bill Sr.) (Wendy), Bill Jr., Bruce, Harrison, Travis) and many cousins and close friends.

George is predeceased by his parents Paul and Mary, daughter Anna Marie, sister in law Josephine, and nieces Sally and Ruby.

George was a good man who walked many paths with his moccasins, leading his traditional ways of enjoying the great outdoors in his activities in fishing, hunting, and trapping, as a noble and generous as he was, he will be greatly missed by his children, family, friends, and community.

The family would like to thank Dr. Vaudry and the nursing staff of the Intensive Care Unit for the care they provided for our Dad. He will have a wake service on August 29th, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in his home-reserve Grassy Narrows at Agnes Fisher's Church and Elder Joe Morrison will be officiating his traditional service which will be held on Tuesday, August 31st, 2010 at 12:00 p.m.
