Geraldine Scott

March 24, 1951 - May 30, 2023

Geraldine (Amik, meaning Beaver), was born to Cornelius (Muzhinigeyshick) and Mary Jane (Poozh) Scott, March 24, 1951 in Kenora, Ontario and grew up in Wabaseemoong (White Dog) First Nation. With her family by her side, Geraldine passed away on May 30th, 2023 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital at the age of 72.

Geraldine moved to Kenora from White Dog in her late-teens, where she met her husband Ernie Loranger, and together they raised three children. Geraldine and Ernie spent many summers blueberry picking together, a favourite pastime of theirs.

Geraldine was a loving and devoted mother and wife. She loved her family, playing bingo, and travelling with her husband, children, and sisters. She kept a warm and comfortable home, a safe space for everyone. Geraldine found joy and happiness in watching movies and listening to music, but especially her little town in the popular video game, Animal Crossing.

Geraldine is survived by her aunt Margaret Quewezance, her sisters and best friends Emily Scott, Joice Scott, Mary Jane McDonald (Tonto), Sandra Scott (Tom), her children Shaun, Shauna, and Shane. Grandchildren Rayne, Quillan, and Jack; and great-granddaughter Violet. She is also survived by numerous cousins, nephews, nieces, great-nephews and great-nieces that she cherished with all her heart.

Geraldine was predeceased by her parents, Cornelius and Mary Jane Scott; her husband Ernie; her brother, Jimmy Scott and brother-in-law Rex McDonald; sisters Jessie Scott, Deborah Scott, Rhonda Scott, Linda Kent, and sister-in-law Linda Muckle; nephews Gary, Eric, Leroy, Orval, Ryan, James, Steven and Keith; Nieces Samantha, Shauna, Crystal and Karen.

A wake will be held at the community centre in White Dog beginning at 2:00pm on Tuesday, June 6th, 2023 and will continue until Thursday morning. A service will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre in Kenora on Thursday, June 8th, 2023 from 2:00-4:00pm. Visitation only. No burial to follow.
