June 3, 1943 – May 27, 2010
It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our father at the Lake of the Woods Hospital at the age of 66 years.
Hardy, as he was known to everyone, was born in Fort Frances, Ont. He was a husband, father, a grandfather and a best friend. He attended Lakehead University and became a teacher and an administrator in the Kenora Catholic District School System. For 35 years he was able to do what he loved most, teaching children. His love of all children was reflected by his kindness and his gentle influences in their lives. Enjoying woodworking and the outdoors, Hardy golfed, fished and camped with family and friends all his life. Instilling a sense of morals and values in his children, he always saw good and never judged. He was always there no matter what.
Hardy was predeceased by his parents, Harold Sr. and his mother Anne. He is survived by his wife of 43 years Nancy; his children Bernard (Anita), Craig (Jennifer), Neill (Cassandra), Jillian; his pride and joy, his grandchildren Mason, Taylin, and Landon. He will be fondly remembered by his siblings Marlene (Jim)McQuarrie, Dale (Carole) Ervick, Marianne (Alan) Williamson, Frances Hahkala (Aarne); his mother-in-law Gertrude Gauthier; his in-laws Joan Preston, Marlene (Manuel) Robert, Micheline Gauthier, Pat Oelkers, Mike (Louise) Gauthier, Tim Gauthier, Charles Gauthier, Pierre (Donna) Gauthier; and his many nieces and nephews.
