It is with great sorrow and heavy hearts we wish to announce the sudden tragic loss of Harold Thomas McDonald "Tom” on January 5, 2013 at the age of 52 years.
Tom leaves to mourn the love of his life Shelly, daughters Robyn and Charlotte McDonald, step children Jennifer and Edward Wilson, sister in-law Mona(Chris) and family, father in-law John, Aunt Susan Goda, Kirby, Sandy, Steven, Kimberly, Cindy, Jake, Jamie, Cody, Doug, and numerous Aunts, Uncles and cousins. Tom will also be fondly remembered and greatly missed by Chief and Council and the Community of Poplar Hill First Nation. Also left to mourn are Tom’s closest and dearest friends Dan and Sue Lacroix, Brian Wenaas, Melvyn and Signe Lacombe, Mike Grobelny and the "back lane” family. Last but not least, Tom will sadly be missed by "Casper”, his 4 legged best friend. They enjoyed many trips to "Tim’s" for coffee and treats.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Harold and Doreen McDonald, sister Kathleen McDonald, Uncles John Goda, Doug Neuert, Ray Shaw and in-laws Flo and Jim Wilcox.
Tom was born in Jasper Alberta on May 9, 1960. When Tom was 12 years of age his family moved to Redditt ON. Tom enjoyed playing baseball and hockey in his younger years. As he got older, he helped run the family store in Redditt. He then ventured off on his own becoming a general contractor. In 1995 he began working for Poplar Hill First Nation up until his sudden passing. Tom was well respected by all members and was considered a member of their Community. Tom took pride in his work and did his very best to do whatever he could for the community. Poplar Hill was his "second home” and made a lasting friendship with each and every member. Tom was a huge "mopar” fan and enjoyed anything mopar. He was very proud of his own mopar collection which included a Challenger, Cuda and Dart which he loved taking out for rides and putting them in the local car show in the summers.
Tom had many friends and very much enjoyed when they would stop by for a chat and cold beer in the garage. Tom had a loving caring nature and was always there for friends and family when needed. Tom will be forever missed but never forgotten. The family would like to express their sincere thanks to Poplar Hill First Nation, Nishnawbe- Aski Police Service and the OPP Search and Recovery Unit.
