January 2, 1936 - February 9, 2026
With heavy hearts, the family announces the sudden passing of Eileen Kress on February 9, 2026, in Kenora Ontario, just weeks after she celebrated her 90th birthday – a milestone that reflected the full and beautiful life she lived.
She is remembered by her children Vicki Neufeld (James), Ken Kress (Kathie), and Lori Katz (Allan), and special niece Tracy Katz (Joey) and nephew Brian Weisgerber. Also survived by her grandchildren, Becky (Jeff), Cindy, Jody (Pete), Nathan, Jake, Josh (Ashley), Leah (Chad), Benny (Katie) and Dylan. She was the great-grandmother of Christina (Bradley), Marcus, Annah, Maria, Charlee, Oden, Daxtyn, Adalyn, Cailan, Rowan, Max, William, Elliot, Beau, Evander, and great-great grandmother of Maggie and Georgia.
She was predeceased by her loving husband Victor Kress of 66 years, daughter Christina and son Gregory.
Daughter of Michael and Magdalena Weisgerber, Eileen was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on January 2, 1936, and was the second youngest of ten siblings.
On June 7, 1952, she married the love of her life, beginning a partnership built on devotion, strength, and shared memories. Together they built a life centered on family, commitment, and enduring love. Together they shared the love of a garden to feed the whole family and a yard full of beautiful flowers.
We are deeply saddened by her passing. She found so much love and joy in her family, who were truly the center of her world. Over the years, she became an aunt, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother-roles she carried with immense pride and love. She looked forward to every visit, no matter how big or small, cherishing the time spent together.
She treasured the many years spent at camp with her family, where laughter filled the air and lifelong memories were made on Eagle River. She especially found love and laughter with her grandchildren. Many of us joked about being her favorite, though we all truly knew that her greatest joy was having all of us together and watching us grow. Her home and her heart were always open.
A proud and dedicated member of the Royal Purple, she valued community, friendship, and service. She also enjoyed curling, embracing both the sport and the camaraderie it brought into her life.
For several years, she worked at one of Kenora’s favorite establishments, The Kenwood Steakhouse. Her warm smile, welcoming nature, and strong work ethic left a lasting impression on many who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She will be remembered for her generous heart, her strength, and the deep, unconditional love she gave so freely. Though she has left this world, her love remains woven into our lives of all who knew her and we will cherish forever the best place she gave us all to grow up, in the shadow of her love.
A mass will be celebrated at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Kenora, Ontario on Wednesday February 25, 2026, at 1:00 pm. A light lunch will follow in the Parish Hall.
