Jim was raised in the tiny hamlet of Walton Ontario. He was the eldest of his siblings Greg (Kaitlyn) and Trish. Dad, Bruce and Mom, Pam (Kevin) ensured that Jim, Greg and their close childhood friends didn’t get into too much trouble. Losing his sister Trish was one of the most difficult times of his life, but he always talked about found memories of her riding a horse.
Jim left for school at Sir Sandford Fleming College to become a forester. This was a bit ironic considering he had severe allergies to trees. After leaving college he moved to Sioux Lookout where he worked fighting fires with the MNR. He made Sioux Lookout his second home, and always felt that its surrounding crown lands are the best place on earth.
Jim first entered policing in Kasabonika. He then worked for Lac Seul Police Service and Kenora Police Service, eventually caving to join the OPP.
Jim’s greatest accomplishment was his three boys, Jackson, Remi and Taylor. He would move mountains to keep them safe and happy and was so proud of who they are and what they have accomplished.
Jim had a way of making his aggressive and loud holler when the Jets scored, Packers fumbled, he caught a fish or shot a moose, joyful and infectious. He loved to play broomball and hockey. “Yee haw”
After a service with friends and family, Jim will be brought back to Lewis Lake, where his heart will always remain.
A visitation for family and close friends for Jim will be held on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre.
