On Wednesday, April 15, 2015, with family by his side, James Edward Shapland passed away at the age of 92. Jim was born in Eagle River, Ontario on September 19, 1922. He was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle, granddaughter Amanda, sisters Eva and Edna and brother Everett. Left to mourn his loss are his 5 children Eva (Doug) Dufresne, Barbara (Neil) Walsten, Darlene Wallin, Jim Shapland and Debbie (Craig) Coughlin, 9 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister Eileen and brother Wayne (Mary). During World War II Jim served with the Lake Superior Regiment. Upon his return he & Isabelle settled in Kenora where they raised their children. Jim worked for the CPR until his retirement 30 years ago. Cremation has taken place and a graveside service will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Jim's memory to a charity of your choice.
