James Sobiski

June 8, 1953 - January 13, 2022

Jamie Sobiski passed away in his home on January 13, 2022 at the age of 68.

He is remembered by his children Karli (Kevin) and Tessa (Jeff), his grandchildren Asher and Lemmy, his siblings Valerie (Gary) Begg, Patricia (Brian) England and Bill Sobiski and his nieces and nephews Avril, Ardis, Shiela, Shaun, Arlo and Yana.

He is predeceased by his parents Donnie and William Sobiski.

Jamie was born in Kenora, Ontario and lived there until his passing. While he loved to travel, he always returned to Kenora and Lake of the Woods, namely Quarry Island - a special place for the whole family. Jamie spent his early work life involved in construction and renovations as the owner/operator of Kenora Konstruction. He was known as a ‘Jack’ of all trades and could problem solve and fix almost anything. His work as a landlord kept him busy in his later years and he held a soft spot for many of his long term tenants.

Jamie loved people, loved to socialize and often hosted a “roundtable” for his beloved neighbours. He loved his family and was never shy about making a late night phone call to catch up but nothing brought a sparkle to his eye like his grandchildren, always bearing gifts and snacks. Everyone that met Jamie has a story to tell, he was a special character and will be deeply missed by many.

A Celebration of Jamie’s life will take place at a later date where the family looks forward to hearing the many stories his friends and family have to share.
