December 3, 1937 – April 25, 2015
“Pepere”
It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our father and pepere, Jean Marc Joseph Belanger. On Saturday April 25, 2015 with his two sons by side, Jean passed away after a sudden complication arose while recovering in the hospital from a surgical procedure. We are reassured by our faith in God that he is in heaven and happily reunited with his beloved wife, Irene, who predeceased him a few weeks prior.
Jean Belanger was born in Rimouski, Quebec on December 3, 1937. He was the middle child of fifteen children in the Joseph and Adrienne Belanger family. Over the years, Jean kept in touch with his brothers and sisters as they meant a great deal to him.
Jean married his sweetheart, Irene St. Croix on March 14, 1964. They were fortunate to celebrate their 51st wedding anniversary this past March. In 1968, they made Kenora, Ontario home where they ran their family business “Belanger Logging” and raised their two sons, Jacques and Roland Belanger. He was a hardworking man and took pride in his business accomplishments. Word on the street is that Jean was a “legend” in the logging industry. When Jean retired, he spent all of his time taking care of his wife Irene and doting on his four grandchildren Jesse, Jayden, Marc and Cameron. They will miss him dearly.
“Pepere, we promise to keep your memory alive by keeping you close to our hearts, in our thoughts and in our prayers. You were a strong man with a big heart. We are grateful to you for all that you did for us. You took really good care of Memere for the last four years of her life while she was battling cancer. Now that you are in Heaven and reunited with her, she can take care of you again. We love you and we will miss both of you each and every day. By sharing memories with friends and family, we promise to keep your legacy alive.”
The family extends special thanks to family members and close friends who have reached out to us and have provided us with support during this difficult period of time. Your kindness and generosity means a great deal to us. In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, donations in his memory can be made to the Chemotherapy Department at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital in memory of his wife Irene.
Interment with close family members and friends will take place at a later date.
“Those we hold closest to our hearts never truly leave us. They live on in the kindness they have shared and the love they brought into our lives.” – Author Unknown.
