

Joan Hall
It is with heavy hearts that the family announces the death of Joan Hall on Tuesday May 19, 2015 at
Lake of the Woods Hospital. She was proud to say she was in her 94th year. Family were by her side at
her passing.
Joan was the beloved wife of the late Fred (Ted) Hall, much loved mother of Robin (Marion), Jennifer
Nancy (Andrew) and Peter (Joy). She was the proud and cherished grandmother of Caleigh (Mazen),
Brock, Veronica, Katherine and Candace (Jordan) as well as great grandmother to Margo.
Joan was pre deceased by her parents William and Annie Fawell and her dear cousin Anne Smith. Joan
will be missed by her loving sister Catherine Swanson (Harry), the Tonogai family as well as numerous.
nieces, nephews and friends.
Joan was born in Sioux Lookout, and one of the highlights of her life was serving her country during
WW11 in the Canadian Women's Army Corp. Upon returning home to Sioux lookout she met her
husband to be Ted, and for the next 25 years they moved throughout Ontario, during his various work
postings. She enjoyed each new location, and the new friends she would meet. The family eventually
'moved to Kenora, where they chose to reside on retirement.
She was an active member of Eastern Star for 70 years, serving as Worthy Matron. Her family is thankful
for the love and support of her friend Linda Brown, and the friends at the Wednesday Night TOPs group.
Mom lived at Gardner Block apartments for the past few years and made many new friends there,
meeting daily at the chat sessions for tea and coffee. Her family would like to thank the support
workers at the building who enabled her to maintain her independence over the past year. Sincere
thanks to the staff at the Lake of the Woods Hospital, in particular the Nurses ,on Third West for their
care and compassion over the last few days of her life.
Cremation has taken place and a celebration of her life will be held at St. Alban's Cathedral on June 12 at
2pm. In lieu of flowers donations to the Kenora Cat Shelter or any other charitable organization would
be appreciated.
