A resident of Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025 at St. Boniface Hospital, Winnipeg Manitoba.
Jon was predeceased by his mother Verna Catherine, his daughter Galexi Teilah Farrie Sunrise and niece Taylor Ocean.
Jonathan is survived by his dear children Migisii Andrew, Reanna Catherine, Jonena Marie Casey and Orion Kyle Maverick. His father Ron, and siblings Veronica (Brennan) Beverley, and Aaron and the Love of his Life Tracy White. His father in law Warren White (Mr. Warren) as he called him, mother in law Stephanie Bird-Blackhawk (Lulu), sister in law Misty (Tyler), Maverick (Aileen), his little crush Torrey G. and the mother of his children Rolena Hunter-Paul. He is also survived by his nephews and nieces who he loved like his own children Derian, Couradge, Realle, Ryver (Rayne), Madison, Aries, Tyrick, Avery, Coby, Elliana, Aubree and Knightly and his grandson Dean. He will also be dearly missed by many uncles, aunts and cousins and friends, too numerous to mention. He will be greatly missed by his best friends Neil, Jonson, Brennan, Nylin, Aaron, Percy, Jae and Derian.
Jon was a guitarist, singer, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and construction on the Lake, he helped construct the Harvey Redsky memorial school with Parkwest Projects from start to finish and assisted in constructing community houses. Spent most his summer days working out on the lake, commercial fishing for his dad. He was the most caring and loving person ever. Always there to lend a helping hand.
Pallbearers will be Leroy, Anthony, Neil, Gabriel, Aaron and Stephan.
A wake service will be held on Monday, April 21, 2025 beginning at 1:00pm at Shoal Lake 40 Gymnasium. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2025 at 11:00am with Pastor Robert Wittmeier officiating at the Shoal Lake 40 Gymnasium with burial to follow in Shoal Lake # 40 First Nation, Ontario.
I would like to thank the caring bystanders who helped Jon. He would do the same for you. Heartfelt thank you to the paramedics, Drs and nurses from St. Boniface. Would like to thank all the firekeepers that stepped up to help, Keenan, Alec, Stephan, Fernando, Couradge, Miigwetch to our family, and friends Shoal Lake 40 staff who helped bring Jon home. We couldn’t do this without the support of Chief and Council and our community.
