When his sunset began to the happy hunting grounds, he will be welcomed by his parents Moses Hookimawillillene and Annie Iserhoff – Hookimawillillene, daughter Kimberly Assin, his brothers Xavier Hookimawillene and Dennis Hookimawillene, sister Jennifer Hookimawillene, nephews Dennis Jr. and Rocky Strong, nieces Charlene and Cynthia Pahpasay, granddaughters Robyn Fiddler and Nora Sneaky, father in law James Swain and close friends Byron, Tootoosh, Jerry and Ivy.
Joseph is survived by his “sister wives” Maria Swain, Lillian Swain (Rodney), Maryanne Swain and his many queens….

Louie was born in Attawapiskat, raised in Moosonee. A survivor of Residential school - Despite trials and tribulations of what was otherwise an amazing great father, uncle, grandfather. He was a hunter, drummer, fisherman, crafter, traditional dancer and a guide, he was loved by many. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, time on the water and in the forest. He was a humorous, loving, giving, respectful, humble man and always kept his word.
We would like to give thanks to the Kenora Fellowship, Knox Church Shelter, Makwa Patrol, Morning Star and the Kenora Hospital.
A viewing will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Wednesday, October 8, 2025 from 12:00pm-4:00pm with soup and Bannock to follow at the Fellowship Centre. The wake will be held at his daughter Amanda’s residence at 892 Main Road in Grassy Narrows on Thursday, October 9, 2025 beginning at 1:00pm, with a Traditional service conducted by Ron P. McDonald on Friday, October 10, 2025 beginning at 10:00am with cremation to follow.
Pallbearers will be Brian, Xavier, Edmond, Jason, Charleton, Cory (Babe) and Marcus.
