1932 - 2012
June was born on June 4, 1932 in Kenora to Carl and Olga Malmo. She passed away peacefully at Lake of the Woods District Hospital on July 29, 2012.
Waiting for her with open arms are her parents, sisters Sonja Lockhart and Sandra Malmo, and brother Bud Malmo, as well as her husband Del and son-in-law Gary Turner.
She is survived by her loving daughters Shelley Turner and Carla Munson (Stu Ballantyne), her grandchildren the greatest joy in her life Amanda (Kyle) McIsaac, Sean Turner (Logan Poulin) and Jake Ballantyne, and her great grandson Jesse McIsaac who was the apple of her eye.
She was also very much looking forward to meeting the newest member of the family, her great grandson Noah Turner in six weeks.
She is also survived by her brother Lorne (Irene), her sister-in-law Ethel Malmo, her brother-in-law George Lockhart, and many nieces and nephews.
June worked hard her entire life. First with her parents who were commercial fishermen on Lake of the Woods, then as a nurse and most importantly as a loving mother and grandmother.
June became a nurse in 1952 and worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital and then Lake of the Woods District Hospital for 45 years.
Many people valued her gifts of knitted items. She was very talented at creating unique and one of a kind sweaters.
Her family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to Dr. Foidart and the nursing staff on second east for the amazing care they gave our mother. As they put it, she’s one of us.
Special thanks are given to Bob, Barb, Crystal, Don and Robin Malmo for being there for one of the saddest moments in our lives
.
The family would like to invite all of June’s family and friends to a Celebration of Life on Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. in the Minis Hall at Super 8 Motel. Please come and join us to share your memories of her.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Lake of the Woods District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
I’ll love you forever
I’ll like you for always.
As long as I’m living
My mommy you’ll be.
