Laura passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2019 at Lake of the Woods District Hospital just two days after her 96th birthday.
Laura is predeceased by her husband Robert Edward Drew, and Ed’s family: Mary (Robert) Korlak and Esmond, known as Dan, (Helvi) Drew.
Mom was born into a family of 10 and is predeceased by her son, Harvey in infancy; her mom and dad, Percy and Grace Moore; her brothers, Norval, Earl, Harold, Leonard, Wilfred, William (Bill), and sister, Florence Moore; and most recently by her sister Marion Moore on May 26, 2019. She is also predeceased by her sisters-in-law Verena (nee: Hamp), Lorraine (nee Klyne), and Roma Moore (nee James) as well as her grandson Norman Schultz and son-in-law Bob Zimmer.
Laura was born in Neepawa, Manitoba on July 15, 1923. She came to Kenora, Ontario with her mom and dad in 1927. She worked at Hayberg’s Camp, then as a telephone operator, and at the Kenora General Hospital before getting married and raising a family.
Laura is survived by her children Marjorie Zimmer (Paul Jackson), Frances Bailey, Jacqueline Holmstrom (Robert Biczok), and David Drew (Marilyn) all of Kenora, Ontario, and 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. She also leaves to mourn her last surviving sibling, brother John J., known as Jack Moore of Sudbury, Ontario, and sister-in-law Judy Moore of Oakville, Ontario, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Laura lived in her own home in Lakeside until her early 80’s and then moved into a suite at her eldest daughter’s home for her remaining years.
Interment was held at Lake of the Woods Cemetery, Kenora, Ontario. A graveside service took place on Monday, July 22, 2019 at 1:00 p.m.
