

Laura Watson
With her family by her side, Laura Watson, at the age of 79, passed away peacefully at home on April 30, 2011.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, William, and by her five daughters: Judy Thorburn (Merle) of Red Deer, AB and their children, Amber, Angel (John) and Bethany, Trevor & Tammy; Louise Berube (Doug) and her son Ryan (Stacey) of Whitecourt, AB, and their children, Abby and Cohen; Betty Harding (Kevin) of Kenora, ON and her children, Miranda, Tyler and Cayley of Alberta; Leslie Watson (Paul) Dupas of Balmertown, ON and her children Brenden Kaiser of Kenora and his children Eve, Ella, Raine, Oliver and Emma; Jenilee Kaiser (Ray) of Thunder Bay, ON and their children, Leyna and Willa; Elisa Hug (Victor) of Lacombe, AB and their children, Courtney, Auston, and Sam.
Laura is also survived by her brothers Melvin (Betty) of Medicine Hat, AB, Norman of Kenora, ON, Gordon (Mary) of Mcintosh, ON, and Paul (Cathy) of Peterborough, ON and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Paul Therrien and Agnes Blanchard, brothers Allen, Leon and Donald, sister Marlene and sister-in-law Marie-Ange.
Laura was born on March 10, 1932 in Richer, Manitoba and moved to Kenora as a young girl. She attended St. Charles Convent in Winnipeg, Mount Carmel School and the Kenora Business College. She graduated from the McKellar Hospital in Thunder Bay, ON as an RNA and worked as a nurse in Niagara Falls, and in Kenora at both the St. Joseph's and the Lake of the Woods District hospitals.
Laura and Bill fell in love and began dating in 1948 and were married on June 8, 1952 at Our Lady of the Snow Catholic Church in Mcintosh, ON.
Laura was a very active member of the Catholic Women's League for 41 years and a successful T.O.P.S. member for 25 years. She also enjoyed bowling with the Thursday afternoon league. Laura was an accomplished seamstress and knitter and loved playing bingo with her friends.
Growing up in the Children's Aid system, Laura gave back in her adult life by opening her home and her heart to numerous children, friends and families and was an angel to many here on earth.
Cremation has taken place and Celebration of Laura's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Notre Dame du Portage Catholic Church with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating.
