Lillian Hatle (nee Remple), a resident of Kenora, Ontario passed away peacefully at Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home on Wednesday June 17, 2020.
Lillian (Lil) was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Floyd Hatle; daughters Ilene and Joan; brother Harry; and sisters Betty Jerome and Ruth Atkins.
Lil is survived by her daughter Louise Roseborough of Kenora and son Clifford Hatle of Thunder Bay; grandson David Roseborough (Bonnie) of Winnipeg; granddaughter Sheila Watson (Sean) of Devon, AB; great-grandson Kevin; great-granddaughters Rayah, Breena, Kaiya and Meekah; brothers John (Denys) and Richard; sisters Alice Wilson, Susie Smith and Leona LeMasurier; many nieces and nephews and special niece Wendy Sutherland of Kenora.
Lil was born on January 2, 1924 in Saskatchewan where she was raised on her parent’s farm. She was the second oldest of nine children, moved to Kenora to work at a summer camp and that is where she met Floyd, fell in love with him and they were married in 1946. Shortly after, Floyd and Lil moved to Emo where Louise, Ilene and Joan were born and then five years later returned to Kenora where Clifford was born.
Lil worked for more than 25 years in Dietary at the Kenora General Hospital where she made many good friends including best friend Venola Morton. Lil and Venola travelled to many places far and wide and shared an interest in their crafts.
Lil was a long-time member of the Royal Canadian Legion Ladies Auxiliary for 66 years volunteering many of those with her sister Ruth. Lil and Ruth were very close spending lots of time together gardening, baking, canning, picking blueberries, doing crafts and their weekly outings to Bingo. Lil had a love of flowers especially her bleeding hearts and had such beautiful flowerbeds that we all admired.
Lil was kind, caring and soft-spoken, she did not always have a lot to say, was more a great listener. Not everyone knew of her quick wit, one-liners and sense of humor.
We take this opportunity to say; Dear Mom, Grandma, “Granny”, Great-Grandma, Sister, Aunt and Friend; we love you and we will miss you.
The family extends their gratitude to Birchwood for her years of care.
