Early on Thursday July 5, 2012, Margaret Jeal Brown died at her residence in Grove Park Home in Barrie, Ontario. She was 91 years old.

She was born Margaret Isabel Adolfson on February 26, 1921 in Kenora to Eric and Edith Adolfson. Her father Eric was a locomotive engineer on the Canadian Pacific Railway and a commercial fisherman on the Lake of the Woods during the 1930s. Her mother Edith, was born in Rat Portage, Ontario, before it was renamed Kenora, giving her a long heritage in this city.

Margaret was raised in Kenora and remembered with deep pride and affection her years growing up with family, including her maternal grandfather, school, friendships and, particularly, the years when her family spent much time during all seasons at her father’s fishing camp on the Lake of the Woods.

Margaret was married in 1943 to Roger Jeal. During the World War II years they lived for short periods in Kenora, Quebec and Nova Scotia. They lived in British Columbia from 1946 until 1964, in Saskatchewan from 1964 to 1969, and in the Kenora area from 1969 until Margaret was predeceased by husband Roger in 1987.

Margaret continued to live in Kenora and was married to Arthur Brown in 1998. In 2006 Margaret and Arthur moved to Barrie where Arthur died in 2008.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, by an infant brother, and by her brother Alvin Adolfson.

Margaret has three children (Linda, Roy, Leon), seven grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Margaret was a woman full of faith and hope. She was a faithful Christian and church worker who loved everyone with a genuine love. Her life was about caring for and seeking the good of others. Many people were the recipients of that love and kindness.

A Funeral will be held at the Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at 1:00 pm, followed by interment at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
