It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our amazing mother Margaret Loranger (nee Page) who took the next step on her journey on September 20, 2020 at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital, at the age of 86.
She is held dearly in the hearts of her children Oliver (Rita), Carolyn, Tim (Shauna), Darcy (Gilbert), Kim, Joel (Nina), George, Lori (Randy), Kevin, Violet (Stefan) as well as her Daughters-in-law Candy, Patsy, Rita and Carole and son-in-law Jerome. She will be forever missed by the many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren whom she always managed to make feel special. Also left to cherish her memory are her sisters and her best friends Shirley (Shirl) and Georgina (Jo), her big brother Ken and sisters-in-law Sylvia (Doug), Louise (Laurie), Lynne and many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by her love Louis, her daughter and son-in-law Cheri & Don, her sons Jim, Kevin and Ronnie, her daughters-in-law Signe and Carolyn, her granddaughters Kari and Diane, her parents George and Violet Page, brothers Bob (Joan) and Ernie (Linda) sisters-in-law Marg and Edna, brothers-in-law Arcade, Ernold, Henry and Leono.
Mom dedicated most of her young life to raising her children. Family was always so very important to her and that continued until the day she left us. With a house full of her own kids she still made room for the many young people who showed up on her doorstep needing a place to rest their heads. Her selfless acts touched the lives of so many people. God’s love was shining brightly on her when she met and fell in love with Lou. He gave her the love, care and respect that she so deserved. Lou shared mom’s desire to help others and together they fostered many young people who have continued to keep in touch over the years.
Large family dinners or a fish fry, where the numbers reached 80 plus people, became her favorite events that she always looked forward to hosting. Tuesday’s card date and Thursday’s coffee date with her sisters (and sometimes her brother), were when mom was the happiest. In the winter months you would often see mom and her sisters at the pool getting their exercise and in the summer they would switch it up to Black Sturgeon, Trout Lake or the Winnipeg River. Mom was such an avid swimmer, she once told Auntie Shirl “my kids aren’t’ swimmers, they’re just dippers” because we could never keep up with her. After Lou passed, the company of her sisters became such an important part of mom’s life, and she was always so very thankful for that bond they shared.
As a six year old she was asked, what do you want to be when you grow up? Her answer to this was “the best mom in the world”. Well, she certainly surpassed that goal. Mom always worried about her “kids” that was probably why she battled through so many life-threatening health issues that others may have succumbed to, worrying even when most of her “kids” had grandkids of their own.
“Mom, you have left such a void in our lives, but don’t worry, we all will be fine”
The family would like to take this time to give a special thank you to Dr. Workman for his dedication, whether it was directly with our mother’s care or the after hour calls to answer our questions. We would also like to thank June from the INR clinic and all the workers from Paramed as well as all the staff on 2nd east who made mom’s final days more comfortable.
