Meg passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025. She is survived by her beloved husband Bill; children Wendy (David) Thiessen, Reid (Jenny) Cameron, Ian (Jane) Cameron, and daughter-in-law Margie Kirkjan Cameron, sister Sue Johnson, brothers and sisters-in-law Donald and Carolyn Cameron, Ian and Didi Cameron. Meg was the loving grandmother of twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Meg was predeceased by her parents Muriel and Archie Scott, her sons David Hensrud and Scott Cameron, her grandson Evhen Cameron, sister and brother-in-law Lee and Bob Cameron, brother-in-law Terry Johnson.
A dedicated community volunteer, Meg gave generously of her time to the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Community Foundation, The Muse, concerts and musical performances and many other local organizations. Meg and Bill were instrumental in establishing the Agape Table at Knox United Church, reflecting her deep commitment to outreach and community.
Meg’s interests and passions were many and varied. She loved entertaining, cooking, reading, sailing on Lake of the Woods and cross-country skiing with Bill, gardening and music. She sang in the Knox and G-Clef choirs and played both piano and ukulele. Meg was a member of St. Andrew’s United Church in Keewatin and then Knox United Church in Kenora. Her faith was central to her life.
Meg will be remembered for her devotion to Bill and her support of her children and grandchildren’s interests and accomplishments. She and Bill shared a strong partnership built on love, faith and shared purpose.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Pinecrest Home for the Aged, Unit 2, Nurse Practitioner Janaya Palsson and to Dr. Shannon Wiebe for their compassionate care.
We will celebrate Meg’s life at a later date when family can gather to honour her memory.
