Maria Da Conceicao Silva

April 20, 1922 - July 29, 2010

With her family by her side, Maria Da Conceicao Silva (Carvalho) a resident of Birchwood Terrace Nursing Home passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at the age of 88.

Maria was predeceased by her husband Guilhermo Carvalho and great grandson Luca Carvalho.

Maria is survived by her sons Herman Carvalho (Vidalia) and Carlos Manuel Carvalho (Ana) of New Bedford, MA, her grandchildren Jessica, Matthew, Eliso, Tiago, Peter, Alisia. Her great grandchildren Saryna, Draya, Emily and Miguel. Maria will also be missed by her sister Guilhermina Raposo of Somerville, MA, as well as stepdaughters Eduarda Eleuterio and Estrela Melo of Winnipeg, MB.

Maria was born in Sao Miguel, Azores and immigrated to Kenora in 2002 to live with her son and his family. Maria enjoyed spending time at Club Day Away at Pinecrest Home for the Aged, as well as trips to Winnipeg and Toronto to visit her family.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 7, 2010 from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Funeral Service will be held at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre on Saturday, August 7, 2010 at 1:00 pm with Father Rudy Manaloto officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or the Lake of the Woods District Hospital.
