We regret to inform you of the sudden passing of Russell (Ross) Loon at the Lake of the Woods District Hospital on Friday, June 13, 2014.

He was predeceased by his parents Peter and Mary Loon (Swain), his wife Mary Lynn Loon (Fobister), his children Stedman Russell and Wanda Marie Loon and his grandson Quentin Joel Joseph Quoquat Jr.

He is survived by his sisters Betty Loon, Louise Burnard (Robert) and Margaret Quewezance, his children, Anita Loon (Jason Kejick Sr.), Miranda Quoquat (Chad), Quentin Quoquat (Charlotte) and Cory Quoquat (Barbara). As well as his grandchildren Andrea, Kambria, Tray, Konrad, Kristin, Ashley, Chasity, Maybeline and Tasha Loon, Tyson, Knoa and Kaitlyn O’Cheek, Babiiwe, Mikiinaak, and Noden Kejick, Charmaine, Paul, Nadine and Cleo Otaskan, Jedidiah, Cheyenne, Christian, Shayna and Kylie Quoquat and Clarice and Tanisha.

He is also survived by his nieces and nephews Roland and Susan Burnard, Brenda Jack, Dorothy Anderson, Lori, Don (Sidney), Mike and Bernadine Bennett, Vince Foster (his sons Wyatt and James), Melvina Hookstead, Winston Foster, Joanne, Linda and Lillian Ackabee. His relatives Joe, Ginny, Ronnie, Erwin, Bradley, Lawrence, Harold, Lyle, Vince, Chris, Tracy, Janice, Del, Tammy, Roxanne, Darrian, Candice, Rene, Sylvester Loon, Teresa and Emelda Coaster, Myra, Linda, Lorenda, Rochelle and Shauna Kokopenace and Rhonda Keesick, Christa, Sherry and Leo Ackabee, Ina, Clifford, Douglas, Dallas, Maria, Chris, Maryanne, Deana, Jim, Chrissy, Bonnie, Jessica, Crystal, Amanda, Adrienne and Lillian Swain, Susan Landon, Adeline Paypom, Destiny Loon, Brenna, Bryce and Juanita Land and Jolene Hookimaw.

Ross was a Cultural Teacher. He loved to teach about traditional values and medicines. He loved his family and friends, he also loved to travel to different communities to teach his traditional ways.

At the request of the family, flowers are gratefully declined.

A Wake will be held on Monday, June 16, 2014 beginning at 2:00 pm at the Minnow Say Win building in Grassy Narrows. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 18, 2014 at 2:00 pm at the Minnow Say Win building with Elder Adolf Twoheart officiating. Interment will follow at Grassy Narrows Cemetery.
