Mrs. Verna Lillian Booth, a resident of Norman in Kenora passed away peacefully at the Lake of the Woods Hospital after a courageous battle with complicated health issues, a hernia and diabetes on April 10, 2013 at the age of 77 years.
She is survived by her husband of 57 years Ross; children Lynn (Kim), Nancy (Mark) Bryan (Debbie), Jeffrey (Hali); and daughter-in-law Marilyn; grand children Natasha (Jason), Angela (Tyler), Amber and Tyler; Bryanna and Kiera, Falynn and Annika and great grandchildren Brook-Lynn and Kennedy and Kash. Also remaining are her brothers Jack and Bryan Pearson and many nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her parents Oscar and Gerda Pearson, brother Gordon Pearson, sister-in-law Lynn Pearson, and son Ross William Verner Booth.
Verna was born in Kenora and has lived her whole life in Kenora except for a short period after marrying Ross, when they lived in Camp Robinson on the Red Lake Road. In her younger years she worked as a teller in the Kenora TD bank and later when her children were older as an Accountant at the Lakevu Motel in Norman.
She will be fondly remembered by her family as a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who took great pride in her home and family. She will be sadly missed by all her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. One of her great pleasures was attending sporting events cheering on members of her family who were participating; particularly hockey and baseball. She was also a great fan of Bingo and other games. She excelled hosting family dinners at the various holidays such as Christmas; and enjoyed having family attend the family cottage on Pickerel Lake during the summer.
A Funeral Service for Verna will be held 11:00 a.m. April 23, 2013 at Brown Funeral Home & Cremation Centre. Service will be conducted by Pastors Cathy Giroux and Daren Gallivan from Bethesda Lutheran Church. Verna was a long time member of Bethesda Church.
Following the service a short Interment Service will be held at the Columbarium location in the Lake of the Woods Cemetery.
Lunch and celebration of Verna's life will follow beginning at 12:30 p.m., and is being held at the Minis-hall at the Super 8 Motel. All friends and guests are invited to attend and join the celebration.
In honor of Verna, donations to the Diabetes Association or to one's charity of choice would greatly appreciated by the family.
