She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Murray (2010); her two sons, Rick and Ronald (2024); and her stepson, David in the late 90’s. Through life’s many chapters, she remained resilient and strong.
Murray and Verna moved to Keewatin in 1969, where they found their greatest joy exploring the lakes and catching trout in both summer and winter. After Murray’s retirement, they spent their summers at their favourite spot down Gordon Lake Road. We will cherish all the fish stories.
After Murray’s passing, Mom and Ronald continued the camping tradition, but perhaps their favourite pastime was Friday night dancing at the Lakeshore. Verna loved to dance.
Right up until her final days, Verna still enjoyed her daily cold Labatt 50, and we believe that may have been the secret to staying a young 90.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Trudy (Albert) Rooseboom, and son, Terry (Tammy) Stagg; eight grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren, with a twelfth arriving in July; and three great-great-grandchildren, with a fourth also arriving in July.
Verna will be cremated, and a summer family gathering will be held to celebrate her life at the lake she loved so much. In her honour, we invite you to raise a 50, share a good fish story, put the music on, and dance the night away. That is exactly how she would want to be remembered.
