In the early morning hours of October 21, 2024, Warren Wilson Scott, passed away after a short battle with Dementia, his family at his side. He was 71 years of age. No words can express the loss of this very special man to those who knew him best. Husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and loyal friend. He had a naturally kind and gentle soul with a heart of gold and that undeniable twinkle in his eye.
Warren was born and raised in Kenora. The family started out living in Norman where he loved playing for the Norman Hockey Team with many friends. Later, they moved into Lakeside where the family did their growing up years. They built the family camp on War Eagle Lake where they lived every summer enjoying everything about living on the lake. The family had many friends and family that came to visit through the summer months. Warren always felt very thankful to his mom and dad for the years spent at the camp; and then he was able to share all of it with his own children. This was a great sense of pride for him.
Known to some of his closest friends as "Scotty", he loved to work on and drive fast cars and motorcycles which carried through his whole life. He had so much mechanical knowledge of so many things. It seemed like there wasn't anything he couldn't figure out and fix. He also became interested in moose hunting for many years, always looking forward to the annual hunting and fishing trip with his closest friends Kirk, Russ, Bob and son Virgil. He loved to be able to provide moose meat for our growing family.
We were very fortunate to have close friends that we made several long distance motorcycle trips with through the years. And you could hear him enjoying Blues music from the stereo on his Harley cruising down the highway.
Such an honest, hard working man. He loved his kids, grandkids and all his family members so much. He would be the first to lend a hand to anyone that needed it and the last one to leave. Definitely had the gift of the gab, he could converse with just about anyone about anything. Warren started working as a mechanic, the only thing he really wanted to do. He worked for a local vehicle dealership and machine shop but left to work as a mechanic in Winnipeg for a short time. But was drawn back to his hometown like a moth to a flame. He then took employment with Bell Canada, first as a mechanic and then to telephone installation and repair. He went out on his own for a number of years and did a variety of jobs from constructing buildings to climbing high towers. His last employment was the Kenora Jail where he was in charge of building maintenance. As always, he gained a number of good friends.
Warren was predeceased by his parents Stanley and Pearl Scott. He is survived by his wife, Jan, of 41+ years; children Virgil (Cindy), Stephanie (Albert), grandchildren Jack, Marley, Sarah; Jacy (Todd), grandchildren Luke and Abigail; Shane and grandson Cael; Vince and grandsons Kristjan and Hayden; sister Margaret (Bill) and brother Gary (Brenda). Also surviving is cousin Heather Adams.
In the hearts of those who loved you, you will always be treasured forever in our memories. I keep in my heart the love of our past, for there it was planted forever to last. Your presence I miss, your memory I treasure, loving you always, forgetting you NEVER.
