Betty was born 2-2-1929 in Max Arkansas, to Tom and Cleo Smothermon. They had 5 children Florine, Betty, Catherine, Sue and Thomas. When her father passed away her mom remarried, and they had 2 children Jerry and Doris.
During her childhood the family moved many times between Arkansas, California and Washington for work opportunities.
In the mid 1940’s Betty married Ralph Bruce (RB) Houser and they had 2 girls Paula and Brenda. RB worked at Spreckles Sugar for many years while Betty worked at the Bun Boy in Kerman along with being a homemaker. After RB passed away in 1983, Betty became very involved in the church and even got baptized. She loved putting on big dinners for her church friends.
In 1997, Betty met the love of her life Charles Glenn. They were soulmates and spent all their time together. They loved going to community events, parties and LOVED going out country western dances where they would dance the night away. If there was a gathering that included dancing, they were there.
She loved her neighbors and call all of them “Her Kids”. She was particularly close to her neighbor Lynden which she knew for over 60 years. Lynden and her family even took Betty to Disneyland because she had never been there. Lynden ultimately took care of Betty for the last 10 years.
Betty was preceded in death by her parents Tom, Cleo husband Ralph Bruce, daughter Paula, siblings Florine, Catherine, Thomas, Jerry, Doris and her beloved Charles.
Betty passed away on the morning of May 29th. She is happy dancing and cooking in heaven with Charles now.
