With profound sadness and immense love, we announce the passing of Leticia Sapien, who entered eternal rest on July 12, 2026, in Fresno, California, at the age of 70, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on April 11, 1956, in Mier, Tamaulipas, Mexico, where her journey of kindness, compassion, and service first began.
A resident of Kerman, Leticia devoted over 25 years to the Kerman Unified School District, where she began her career as a tutor before becoming a respected Homeschool Liaison. Throughout her years in education, she became a trusted advocate for countless students and families, helping them navigate the educational system with patience, understanding, and genuine care. Her work was never simply a job—it was a calling rooted in her unwavering belief that every child and family deserved support, encouragement, and opportunity.
Anyone who had the privilege of knowing Leticia will remember her radiant smile. It was the kind of smile that instantly brightened every room and made strangers feel like lifelong friends. Her warmth, generosity, and selfless spirit touched everyone she met. She gave freely of her time, her love, and her heart to her family, friends, neighbors, and community, always placing the needs of others before her own.
Above all else, Leticia treasured her family. She found her greatest joy in spending time with her seven beloved grandchildren, creating lasting memories through laughter, stories, and unconditional love. Leticia was her grandchildren’s biggest cheerleader and proud fan in the stands. She delighted in learning new recipes, preparing her famous homemade tortillas, breakfast burritos and banana bread, and baking delicious desserts that she lovingly shared with family and friends. Her kitchen was a place where everyone felt welcome, nourished, and deeply loved.
Leticia is lovingly survived by her children: Cynthia Yuri Rocha and her husband, David Rocha Jr.; Christina Angie Quinto and her husband, Jorge Quinto; and Francisco Sapien Jr. and his wife, Jessica Sapien.
She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: David J. Rocha III, Isaiah C. Quinto, Vanessa A. Quinto, Xavier N. Quinto, Jade A. Sapien, Jazelle A. Sapien, and Jase A. Sapien, each of whom brought immeasurable joy and pride to her life.
She is also survived by her loving siblings: Jose Alberto Hinojosa, Eliezar Hinojosa, Luz Delia Rivas, and Rosa Elva Cavazos, along with many nieces, nephews, extended family members, dear friends, former colleagues, and the countless families whose lives she touched throughout her career.
Leticia was preceded in death by her daughter Vanessa Braulia Sapien, and parents, Ascencio Hinojosa and Angelina Hinojosa.
Although our hearts are broken by her passing, we find comfort in the extraordinary legacy she leaves behind—a legacy of love, service, generosity, faith, and unwavering kindness. Her life reminds us that the greatest impact we can have is found in how we love and care for others.
Her smile, her laughter, her comforting presence, and the unconditional love she gave so freely will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

Leticia’s family invites all who knew and loved her to celebrate her life, honor her memory, and carry forward the compassion and generosity that defined her remarkable life. A recitation of the Rosary will be held at 10:30 am followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 am on July 28, 2026 at St. Patrick’s Church 15437 W Kearney Blvd, Kerman, CA. A Reception of Remembrance will be held immediately after the Funeral Mass at Kerman Community Center 15100 W Kearney Blvd, Kerman, CA from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm. May she rest in eternal peace, surrounded by God’s everlasting love.
