Lucia R. Duarte, born on June 7, 1929, in Dilley Frio, Texas, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2025, at the age of 96. Lucia was a beloved resident of Biola, California, where she spent many cherished years.
Lucia was a devoted mother to her daughters, Gloria L. Duarte (Don), Anita Duarte, and Lupita Cardoso (Charlie), and her son, George Duarte (Mary Jane). She was predeceased by her loving husband, Mike "Bucky" Duarte, and her son, Mike Duarte Jr. Lucia's legacy continues through her 15 grandchildren, 52 great-grandchildren, 33 great-great-grandchildren, and one great-great-great-grandchild.
Throughout her life, Lucia was known for her vibrant spirit and diverse interests. She loved shopping and had a green thumb for gardening. Traveling and cooking were among her passions. Lucia found joy in listening to music, dancing, and singing. She enjoyed visiting the casino and, most importantly, spending time with her children and all her grandchildren.
A viewing will be held at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, located at 15437 W. Kearney Blvd, Kerman, CA 93630, on January 16, 2026, at 9:00 am. This will be followed by a Rosary at 10:00 am and a Mass at 10:30 am. Interment will take place at Fresno Memorial Gardens, 175 S. Cornelia Ave, Fresno, CA 93706.
Pallbearers honoring Lucia will include Richard Fuentes Jr., Bobby Fuentes, George Duarte Jr., Matthew Duarte, Zeke Flores, and Alfonso Chavez. Honorary pallbearers will be Braiden Fuentes, Jaxson Gonzales, and Justyce Duarte.
Lucia will be remembered for her warmth, love, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her memory will forever remain in the hearts of her family and friends.
