Olen Earl White
October 11, 1946 – January 9, 2019
Olen White, 72, of Kerman, passed away on January 8, 2019. He was born in Madera to Gene and Jenna V. White.
He was preceded in death by his father on June 1, 1989 and his mother on July 1, 2002. He is survived by his wife Lottie, sister Cheryl Booth, and brother Rick White and wife Sylvia, and many nieces and nephews.
Soon after Olen graduated from Kerman High School, he married Lottie Mercer. They moved to Southern California where he worked in a hospital and at Disneyland for a few years. When they moved back to Kerman, he began his career of 31 years with the Post Office.
Olen was a friendly guy who never knew a stranger. He was always involved in civic activities such as the parade chairman for the Harvest Festival. One year he was selected to be the Grand Marshall. For many years he collected memorabilia for the Historical Society in Kerman. He enjoyed restoring old photos to add to the collection. He also served as a part-time minister for the church of Christ, in Kerman, for many years. He was definitely a man of many interests and talents. Many people may remember his authentic haunted house with all the scary characters that resided inside and scared all who entered. He also loved magic and practiced it at kids' birthday parties and other events.
Another hobby he enjoyed was woodworking. He made several impressive pieces of furniture; a cedar closet, china cabinet, and many smaller items. He was a perfectionist in all he did. He will be missed.

Such a special soul. We remember him turning his home upside down for his haunted house. One special memory is Olen and Lottie helping us move and treating us to dinner that night at Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlor. Terry got into uncut horseradish and when Olen went to pay for dinner, he had left his wallet at home. We laughed many times about that afterward. Love and prayers.

We share your sorrow, have known Olen and his beautiful family for many years. We all grew up in Kerman, attending church together as children in a small little building there. However we outgrew it, and built the one that is being used now. Olens parents, were my parents best friends, They played dominoes every Sunday evening after church service (for years) with the Wards joining them. Lots of wonderful memories ! Our love, prayers, and sympathy to each of the family, knowing God will be with each of you during the days ahead......Billie, Michael and Scott Avery
