Patricia Joy Hendrix

Patricia Joy Hendrix, lovingly known to family and friends as Joy, passed away peacefully on June 29, 2026, in Fresno, California, at the age of 91.

Joy was born in Stidham, Oklahoma, the tenth of twelve children born to Talma and Harve Hendrix. Growing up in a large family shaped her deep appreciation for faith, love, and togetherness—values she carried with her throughout her life.

Joy spent her working years in San Jose, California, before retiring to Kerman, California, to be closer to her family. Her Christian faith was the cornerstone of her life. From a young age, she faithfully worshiped in the Church of Christ, beginning in Kerman and later worshiping with many congregations throughout the years before making Woodward Park Church of Christ her church home. She faithfully taught Bible classes, loved attending church camp, and found great joy in serving alongside her sisters. She especially loved singing and treasured every opportunity to lift her voice in worship, encouraging others through her faith and joyful spirit.

Although Joy never married, she poured her love into her family. She cherished her nieces and nephews, as well as her great-nieces and great-nephews, loving them as if they were her own children. She especially treasured family reunions, where she delighted in spending time with those she loved, sharing stories, laughter, and creating lasting memories.

One of Joy’s lifelong passions was bowling. She discovered her love for the sport as a young woman and spent many years bowling in both singles and team leagues alongside cherished friends. The friendships she built through bowling brought her years of happiness and fellowship, and her dedication to the sport earned her numerous trophies.

Joy also had a love for travel and embraced every opportunity to explore. She enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and abroad, but the journeys that meant the most to her were her trips to the Holy Land. Walking where Jesus walked deepened her faith and became some of her most treasured memories.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, Talma and Harve Hendrix, as well as many of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sisters, Lillian Walters and Berdie Horn, along with many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever cherish her memory.

Joy will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her servant’s heart, her love for her family, and the kindness and joy she shared with everyone she met. She lived a life devoted to God, grounded in love for her family, and marked by quiet service to others. Though she will be deeply missed, her loved ones rejoice in the hope of the resurrection and the promise that she is now at peace with her Lord.

A graveside service will be held on July 14, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Fresno Memorial Gardens. A luncheon will immediately follow at Woodward Park Church of Christ, where family and friends are invited to gather in celebration of Joy’s life and faith.
