Bette June (Sindt) Franklin, 83, of Kimball passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at the Kimball Manor. Following her wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to view her tribute wall and share stories and condolences with the family. Memorials may be given in her memory to the Panhandle Humane Society. The services for Bette have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Bette was born in Sterling, Colorado, on December 29, 1942, to Theodore and Laura (Johnson) Sindt. She and her brother, Lew, and sister, Mary, were raised on the family farm. She attended school in Peetz and graduated in 1960.
She married Royal Franklin on May 22, 1960. They made their home in Kimball and welcomed two boys, Gary and Daniel.
Bette treasured being a homemaker for her family and worked at Kimball County Hospital in the lab and x-ray departments. Bette especially enjoyed taking care of her friends and neighbors. In 1995, she received the Nebraska Hospital Association’s Caring Kind Award.
She was a member of the Methodist Church of Kimball.
As a young girl, Bette spent many days hiking in the hills and collecting beautiful rocks from her adventures. Later in life Bette enjoyed spending time gardening and reading.
Bette is survived by her husband, Royal Franklin of Kimball, sons Gary (Julie) Franklin of Gering and Daniel (Lea Ann) Franklin of Hempstead, Texas; seven grandchildren Nathan, DJ, Joe (Lauren), Samantha, Cate, Jack, Tyler, and one great-grandson, John. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Lew Sindt and sister Mary Bernhardt.
