Edward “Paul” Heidemann, 97, of Kimball, died peacefully at the Kimball County Manor on Saturday, April 25, 2026. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on April 30, 2026 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Kimball with Pastor Ellery Steffensen officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may visit www.cantrellfh.com to view Paul’s Tribute Wall and share stories and condolences with the family. Memorials may be given to the Kimball Friendship Senior Center. The services have been entrusted to Cantrell Funeral Home.
Edward Paul Heidemann, born September 11, 1928, in Holdrege, Nebraska, to Herman Louis Heidemann and Elsie Foline Meitner-Heidemann. He was raised on the farm in Kimball and graduated 3 years early from the Kimball County High School in 1943.
Paul was a lifelong farmer, rancher, excavator, and electrician, known for his strong work ethic and dedication to his land and livelihood. As a young man, he enjoyed playing baseball, and later found equal joy in watching the game and supporting youth athletics. A valued and respected member of the Kimball, Nebraska community, Paul gave generously of his time. He served with local volunteer fire departments, coached youth baseball and Little League teams, and was a steadfast supporter of community youth music, agricultural, and sports programs. Paul’s life was defined by hard work, service, and family, and his legacy will continue through the many generations and community members whose lives he touched.
Paul was preceded in death by his sons, Steven and Patrick; his wives Margie, Wilma, and Bea; and his siblings, Marion, Llera, Bernard, Harold, and Melba. He is survived by his first wife Patsy; children, Karen, Ryan, Heidi, Kathy, Carla, and Jon; his stepchildren, Bradley, Susan, Lonnie, Teresa, and Doug; as well as 24 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply.
