Gary E. Bowron, 83, of Kimball, died at his home in Kimball on Thursday, August 28, 2025. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 3, 2025 at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Randy Bohac officiating. Burial will follow in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may also visit www.cantrellfh.com to view his Tribute Wall and share condolences and stories with the family. Memorials may be given in his memory to the family. The services for Gary have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Gary Edward Bowron was born in Flint, Michigan, on May 9, 1942, the son of Harold and Jennie (Dimmick) Bowron. He attended Flint Michigan High School graduating in 1960. Following graduation, he began his career as a gas station attendant in Flint. Gary was married to Barbara Bright in Kimball, NE on October 23, 1976. Gary and Barb returned to Michigan and he started working at GMAC, a division of General Motors. He later worked at U.S. Plywood in Gaylord, Michigan, and then moved on to the oil field working for Flint Engineering, eventually working for Amoco in Gaylord. He then became a welder for John Deere and also worked as a compressor mechanic in the oil field. He retired in 1996 but continued to stay active by working at the Main Street Market in Kimball, Nebraska. Throughout his life he lived in Michigan, Texas and Nebraska. Gary loved anything with an engine, especially cars, motorcycles and snowmobiles, he was also known for his love of lawnmower tractor racing. He could build and fabricate anything he had a vision to build. Gary knew everyone and he truly did not know a stranger. He will be missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.
Survivors include his wife Barb Bowron of Kimball, NE; sons Dustin (Alyssa) Bowron of Omaha, NE., and Jeffery Bowron of Gaylord, MI; daughters Stephanie (Matthew) Shoup of Kimball, NE., and Tami (Brian) Techel of Gaylord, MI; sister Jackie (Ron) Ford of Davison, MI; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and son Greg Bowron.
