Glendel M Snyder, 86, of Kimball County died Saturday, February 5, 2022, at Aspen Winds Care Center in Cheyenne, Wyoming. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 12th, at the First English Lutheran Church in Kimball. Glendel was born in Banner County August 1, 1935. He was the oldest son of Glen “Shorty” and Roberta (Sweatt-James) Snyder. He graduated from the Banner County High School in 1954 with his high school sweetheart, Joan Stauffer. Glendel and Joan were married in Harrisburg on Wednesday, September 28, 1955, on the date of Glendel’s parent’s 25th Anniversary.
Glendel and Joan moved to the Kimball County South Divide in November of 1957 establishing their farm as we know it today. He took on the role as an innovator in the farming field. He was recognized in 1971 with the Conservation Award by the Kimball County Southwest Conservation District. Glendel and Joan were recognized in 1985 as Kimball County’s Outstanding Farm and Ranch Couple of the year. He was also instrumental in the establishment of Organic Farming in Southern Kimball County. Glendel enjoyed being active in his community. He was a member of the First English Lutheran Church, Bushnell Lions Club, Kimball County Rural Fire Department, and the Kimball County Historical Society. Glendel took great pride in seeing his passion for farming and ranching to continue to grow with his sons and grandchildren.
He was survived by brother Val Dean (Kay) Snyder of Kimball; sister Marva Rae (Lanny) Schiessler of Sidney, NE; son, Raymond (Lisa Buckley) Snyder, of Kimball; daughter Laurrie (Dennis) Cronin of Bennington, NE; son Lawrence “Larry” (Nicole) Snyder of Kimball; and daughter Ronda (Kimon) Litras of Hubbard, NE. Grandchildren include Dillon (Hannah) Snyder of Kimball; Alicia (Shaun) Bowers of Blair, NE; Adam (fiancé Hannah Rae) Snyder of Alliance, NE; Michelle (Mike) Oates of Fort Collins, CO; Patrick Cronin of Staplehurst, NE; Colton Snyder of Vernal, UT; Katelyn Cronin of Omaha, NE; Daniel Cronin of Blair, NE; Madison “Madie” Snyder of Kimball; Lukas Litras of Stanton, NE; and Jedidiah Litras of Norfolk, NE. Great grandchildren include Kasyn, Jessalynn, and Leland (Dillon) and Ross (Adam). Glendel would always say how he loved the abundant laughter and comradery at the family gatherings.
Glendel was proceeded in death by his parents, brother Linden, and wife Joan.
