This was a surprise meetup with Hazel in August of last year at our sons wedding in Nebraska.  We do appreciate her giving her life to tell the gospel story.  Our life in Korea is  held very dear in our hearts, and for the most part , it is because of knowing and seeing labor  there and the great response in people’s lives!   We are so happy to understand this! Thank you to Hazels family.

Hazel was a special person to me and my family.

She had such a deep love and passion for hymns. Many years ago, when she was in Daejeon and I was a young kid, she taught me and my brother how to sing parts. It has now become one of my greatest joys in life, something that I deeply appreciate as I grow older.

I still memorise in full the first verse of the hymn that was our little assignment at Bible studies:

“We are building in sorrow and building in joy, our temple the world may not see. But we know it will stand, if it’s founded on a rock, to the ages of eternity.”

Whenever I sing this, it brings back memories of her. I appreciate how her lifelong commitment to God beautifully mirrors the hymn we sang countless times.

I am grateful to have known Hazel throughout my life and for the love and care she has provided to Korea.

My wife and I have now lovely memories  of Hazel when she was in Daejeon. She showed us so gentle , kind and meek spirit that we cannot forget. Wish our Father's comfort to each of her families.

Hazel labored in the city of Daejeon, Korea many times  I remembered.  All friends of Daejeon are missing her now.
We had 60th anniversary of her birthday in these pictures.

Sorry to hear about Hazel passing, she was an old Army buddy while at Fitzsimmons Hospital in CO.

We have memories of Hazel when she was in our home state of Pennsylvania.  We always enjoyed her when she came back to visit!  She was such a gentle soul!

Sorry to hear of Hazel's passing.  I have many memories of the Peterson family.  My parents and Mr. and Peterson were close friends during my growing up years.   We often attended Wednesday nite bible studies at their house.  I remember as a child one of the perks that my brother Harold and I had there.  Grandpa Peterson would give us coffee and cookies after meeting if we stayed awake.  Great incentive at that stage of our lives :). I remember all of her siblings as well.  Lois and Mildred were telephone operators working in Riverton during that time. 
Carol, Jana and I spent a week with her in Korea .  She took us around to meet a lot of friends there.  Hazel and her companion met us in the Seoul airport when we passed through there on our way to Sakhalin Island.  We sometimes  had dinner together then.   
Many fond memories of a great lady.

My thoughts are very much with Hazel’s Family as you are feeling the physical separation upon Hazel leaving for her eternal home. I am thankful that Hazel was a friend & am thankful that Hazel was willing for experiences that brought a richness into her soul. We will miss her greatly . May you feel the comfort of Our Father.

We, being from Riverton, where Hazel grew up, heard Hazel referred to as either their "sister" or "Aunt Hazel".  Love is a beautiful thing, because it effortlessly spreads and fills hearts and lives. We loved, and have been so thankful for -  her brothers and sisters that preceded her in death. Oh how exciting it was when Hazel was coming back from Korea after 5 years there, and the family reunion plans could begin! The Petersons may be the 
best cooks in the world :)
    In October of 2022 we had the privilege of taking Hazel for a drive around her home country. It was amazing how she remembered places and people, in her most delightful way. How easy to smile when thinking of "Aunt Hazel." 
   We loved her too...

We are thinking of the family as they say goodbye to Hazel.  My first memory of her is when we took Aunt Rose Farring to visit her in PA as she was preparing to go labor in Korea.  I remember it touching my young heart that she would go to that country - even though I knew Aunt Rose was there.  Later we had a year together in that country in the city of Jinju.  She was a teacher and so kind to me as I was struggling with using the language and keeping up with a busy schedule.

The phrase,” true yolkfellow”, comes to mind when I  remember Hazel.  Hazel, indeed, was a true servant through and through. Although never companions in Korea, I valued her cheerful, wise example at preps many times. Hazel was always  ready to meet a need or go to an another’s aid. Many are thankful for her life and influence that remains..

I never knew Hazel but I knew her brother Andy in Riverton WY. Probably the toughest man I have ever met!! So many memories of his 170 Appaloosa’s on his ranch :-)  The things he told me while he was breaking horses is still with me today!! And his supper was always chocolate milk

I have wonderful memories of Haze.  Im  1972 we went to Korea together, and spent a year  together learning the language.  She was an interesting and understanding lady, and she was such a good help because she had lived in Korea when there as a nurse.  She loved the Korean people, and had many friends there.    she was a good friend, and I’ll miss her.   Hazel often spoke of her family and loved you all very much. Sending condolences to Hazels family for their loss.  I met Hazel when I was 19 and she was stationed in Carlisle Pa as a Captain in the army.  She took me under her wing and we had lots of memories to share over the years.  She was a good and faithful servant and will be greatly missed.

Sweet memories of our times together in Denver in the mid sixties!  You were a bright light of joy and thankful for your willing life of service.
