Howard Amon Tindall Jr. passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his wife Shirley Ann Tindall at his side, on August 12, 2025. Howard was born on May 27, 1938 in the Parish of Terrebonne, Houma, LA, to his parents Howard A. Tindall Sr. and Audrey Labit Tindall. Howard moved from Houma to Laurel, MS at a young age, and then from Laurel to Sterling, CO where he graduated high school in 1956.
While attending the University of Northern Colorado, Howard met the love of his life in Shirley, marking the beginning of what became a 64 year long marriage. Howard graduated with a degree in education, teaching for one year at a country school before following in his father’s footsteps and moving to Kimball, NE to work for Haliburton. Howard and Shirley lived in Kimball for the rest of their lives, where they had three children, Debbie, Michael (Subhan), and Robert.
Howard was known for his generosity, quick smile, and his eagerness to bring joy to those around him. His life was marked by his love for his family, the Cornhuskers, the Broncos, being a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation, golfing, and fishing. Howard and Shirley remained long time members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where they found comfort and love among their fellow congregants.
Howard was preceded in death by both of his parents and his sons Michael (Subhan) and Robert. He is survived and missed dearly by his wife Shirley; daughter Debbie Villavicencio (and her husband Danny); grandchildren Michael (and his wife Connie), Johnny, Daniel, Andrea, and Hunter Villavicencio, and Jake Tindall; great-grandchildren Kylie, Avacyn, and Liliana Villavicencio; his siblings Mary Tindall and John Tindall; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that any memorials be sent to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 601 S. Locust St, Kimball, where Howard and Shirley spent so many happy moments of their life.
