Michael Scott Haug was born on November 10, 1962 to Lawrence and Wanda Haug in Kimball, NE. He was raised on the family farm south of Bushnell, NE. He loved basketball, farming and Husker football. After high school, Mike followed in his father’s footsteps and started his custom harvesting business, Haug Harvesting. With his crew, he traveled throughout Wyoming, Nebraska, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas cutting wheat and more. That endeavor evolved into Haug and Snyder Trucking and later Haug Trucking. Mike hauled cattle all across the United States. He met so many great people through harvesting, sale barns and trucking that his family joked that he knew someone in every town. After hanging up the semi keys, Mike moved to Newell, SD and began ranching for the Weinreis Brothers. He took great pride in working hard with his beloved dog Otis by his side, but his greatest pride was his family. He loved being a grandfather and always took the opportunity to show off photos of his six grandchildren. Mike battled cancer with everything he had and passed peacefully surrounded by his family on August 24, 2025.
He is survived by his mother Wanda Madden, his siblings Carla Thurin (Matt) and Larry Haug (Angela), his children Amanda Turnbull (Justin), Heather Morgan (Cory), Brad Haug (Jordan) and Tucker Haug, his grandchildren Rider, Clayton and Jolyn Turnbull, Taycee Morgan and Holt and Eli Haug, numerous nieces and nephews that he loved deeply and his Weinreis family. He is preceded in death by his father Lawrence Haug and his nephew Jay Thurin.
