Roberta Gail Murray

Roberta G. Murray, 91, of Potter, Nebraska, died at Kimball Health Services on Sunday, April 7, 2019 with family at her side. Cremation has been held and family services were held at the Dix Community Center. Roberta Gail Murray was born in Pueblo, Colorado on November 3, 1927, the daughter of Robert and LaVerna (Huffman) Craig. She moved with her family to El Paso, Texas at an early age where she attended and graduated from high school in 1945. Following graduation she worked for Mountain Bell Telephone Company. Roberta was married to Rex Hosmer Murray in El Paso, Texas on December 22, 1955, and Rex adopted her son, Verne Clair Carman. In 1958, Gail Jean was born to the marriage. Rex preceded her in death in 1966. She lived in Tucson, Arizona and Albuquerque, NM area after leaving El Paso in 1980. She settled in Estancia, New Mexico until 2012 when she moved to Potter. Roberta had a very artistic mind, and she enjoyed knitting, crochet, ceramics and cake decorating. She was an avid reader. Roberta knew no strangers and enjoyed conversations with everybody. Roberta remained quick witted and sharp until the time of her death. Survivors include her son Verne C. Murray of Phoenix, AZ; daughter Gail (Sam) Dunkle of Dix, Nebraska; sister Patti Apostilides of St. George, UT; 12 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews, whom she loved greatly. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Rodney, Johnny, and Freddy Craig; sister Lorena Craig Foster, and grandson Talon Dunkle.
