

Wayne “Pete” Baldwin, 86, of Kimball, peacefully died at Kimball Health services on May 5, 2026 with his family by his side. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026, at the Cantrell Funeral Home in Kimball with Pastor Randy Bohac officiating. Burial will be held in the Kimball Cemetery following the service. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday, from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may also visit www.cantrellfh.com to share stories and condolences with the family. Memorials may be given in Wayne’s memory to Cheyenne Animal Shelter, 800 Southwest Drive, Cheyenne, Wyoming, 82001. The services for Wayne have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Wayne “Pete” Baldwin, born in Kansas on August 22, 1939, to Melvin and Elsie (Dilley) Baldwin. He embarked on a remarkable journey working the harvest at the age of 15, after the harvest, he left Kansas and eventually settled in Kimball, Nebraska, where he met Janice Coffman. The two were married on June 7th, 1959.
Wayne began his career in the oil fields as a roustabout, and he and Janice were blessed with two children, Christina and Mark. In 1961, Wayne faced a significant challenge when he was severely injured in an oil field accident, undergoing multiple surgeries and a lengthy recovery. Despite these setbacks, he returned to work with resilience.
In 1966, the family moved to California, where Wayne continued his work in the oil fields on Terminal Island. In 1980, they settled in Nebraska, and after a brief period in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, they returned to Kimball, where Wayne continued his career.
Wayne had a zest for life, enjoying motorcycling, camping, fishing, and playing cards. He was also an avid pool player, competing in local and state championships. His skill on the pool table earned him a trip to Las Vegas for the national championship, showcasing his competitive spirit and passion. Wayne “Pete” Baldwin will be remembered for his resilience, love for family, and his vibrant spirit.
Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Janice; his children, Christina and husband Larry Stout, and Mark and wife Kathy Raphael; his grandchildren, Brandi and husband Brian Olivas, Dean Davis, Ben Davis, Lindsay and husband Fabian Villegas, and Emily Bergeron; as well as his great-grandchildren, Colby, Maddy, Noah, Elias, Micha, Brynn, Wesley, and Isabella. He was preceded in in death by his parents.
