William M. Mika, 84, beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at his home in Sidney on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Rosary service will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kimball with Father C.P. Varghese officiating. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. following the rosary. Burial will be held in the Bushnell Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 8:30 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. Memorials may be given in William’s memory to the Sidney Ambulance. The family has entrusted the services to Cantrell Funeral Home.
William McArthur Mika was born in Sidney, Nebraska on April 28, 1942, the son of William and Irene (Domeier) Mika. He was raised in Sidney and graduated from the Sidney High School in 1960.
Following graduation he worked for the City of Sidney at Greenwood Cemetery. William married Karoleen Leckner in Kimball on June 21, 1963. They lived in Kimball and helped Karoleen’s parents run Western Market. In 1972, they moved to Sidney and opened Western Market, a furniture business they would operate until 1983. William had a passion for yard work and cherished time spent with family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters Lori (Steve) Kiewatt of Lewistown, MT., and JaNee Leibrand of Billings, MT. He also leaves behind his grandchildren James Leibrand and Jacob Leibrand both of Billings, MT; sister Virginia Campbell of Sidney, NE; brothers Dennis Mika of Hollidaysburg, PA, and Robert (Chong) of Lincoln. NE., along with many nieces and nephews. William was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter Sherri Lynn Mika and his sister Susan (Mika) Bosn
