Wilma V. Lockwood-Sigette, 93, of Kimball, died at Kimball Health Services on Saturday, September 3, 2022. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Calvary United Methodist Church in Bushnell with Pastor Lorri Kentner and Roger Gillming officiating. Burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 1:00 until 6:00 p.m. Friends may also visit www.cantrellfh.com to share condolences and stories with the family. Memorials may be given in Wilma’s memory to Calvary United Methodist Church or the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department. The services for Wilma have been entrusted to the Cantrell Funeral Home.
Wilma Virginia Lockwood-Sigette was born Dravosburg, Pennsylvania on July 5, 1929, the daughter of Carl Abraham and Virginia Catherine (Keenan) Haywood. As a small child, the family moved west to Bushnell, Nebraska and lived with her uncle William H. Haywood. They later moved into their own home. Wilma attended and graduated from the Bushnell Public Schools in 1947. On September 17, 1948 she was married to Robert Eugene Lockwood and to this marriage Carl Milford, Larry Eugene, Lynnette Kay and James Bruce were born. Wilma was a member of Granny’s Craft Club, Starlighter Extension Club and Moon beam Extension Club. She was also a member of the Bushnell Volunteer Fire Department, Fire Bells Group, Red Hatters Club, Y’all Come Motorcycle Club and Pairs and Half Pairs Square Dance Club. Following High School she worked at the Kimball ASCS Office. She also worked at Ginny’s Coffee Shop, Jirdons, Hagemeisters, and Kimball Banner Grain. At 16 she became a member of the Bushnell Methodist Church. Throughout the years she sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School classes and helped with Bible School, the last few years she served on the board of Trustees. She learned to crochet when she was 12 years old and this became her favorite pastime throughout her life. Family and friends received crocheted items as gifts and she also sold many items at the different craft shows she attended. When traveling, bags of yarn were the first things she packed for the trip. Wilma was known as the “Craft Lady.” Her home is full of turtles of all sizes that she collected over the years. She loved bowling until the age of 91 when she was forced to quit due to her health. Wilma was married to Bruce Sigette on April 6, 2006 at the Trinity United Methodist Church by Pastor Roger Gillming.
Survivors include her husband Bruce Sigette of Bushnell, NE; sons Carl (Linda) Lockwood, Larry (Judy) Lockwood, and James (Teresa) Lockwood, daughter Lynnette (Don) Cederburg; step daughter Michelle (Kevin) Bridgewater; 12 grand children and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ruth and husband Alfred Edmunds, husband Robert Lockwood.
