Alexander John Sarske

Alex was born August 7, 1921 in Buckley to Barney and Stella (Olszewski) Sarske. He married Rena Wales on February 22, 1945 in Traverse City. Together they raised 4 daughters.

Most of his life, Alex was a self-employed painter and wall paperer. In his spare time, he enjoyed tinkering in his garage and gardening.

Alex is survived by his wife of 66 years Rena; Daughters: Donna (Stephen) Archey of Kingsley, Loraine (Gregory) Lytle of Roscommon, Patricia (Reginald) Jay of Brutus, and Lisa (David) Cole of Kingsley; 9 Grandchildren and 12 Great grandchildren; sister Sophia Yack of Traverse City; brothers: John (Fay) Sarske of Nebraska City, Nebraska and Norman (Rosemarie) Sarske of Roseville.

Besides his parents, Alex was preceded in death by 7 siblings: Esther Huffman, Helen Taylor, Barney Sarske, Frances Piasecki, Agnes Deratany, August Sarske, and Angeline Deratany, and a grandson Ashley Archey.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, July 2, 2011 at 2:30 p.m., with visitation from 1 until the time of service at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Traverse City.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.
