Alva Lou Pearson

Alva Lou Pearson, 83 of Buckley passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in Traverse City. She was born on May 19, 1933 in Grant Twp to Daniel and Carrie (Dixon) Harkins. Alva was a 1951 graduate of Buckley High School and played on the girls baskeball team of which she was very proud. On February 20, 1954 she married Harold Junior Pearson at First Congregational Church in Traverse City. Alva retired from the State Hospital in 1988 after over 30 years of dedicated employment.
Among many things, Alva Lou enjoyed reading, gardening, bird watching, dancing, sports, jigsaw puzzles, baking, and crocheting, making many beautiful afghan blankets. Above all, Alva Lou enjoyed time visiting with family and friends.
She is survived by two daughters, Julie (Bob) Trudel of Buckley, and Carolyn (Raj) Mangipudi of Redford; Four sons, Joseph (Lisa) Pearson of Grawn; Sidney (Kelly) Pearson of Buckley; Edward (Marcy) Pearson of Kingsley, and Peter Pearson of Traverse City, 15 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Preceding her in death are her husband, Harold Junior Pearson; a brother, Jim Harkins; an infant brother and sister; a son, Daniel L. Pearson; and a grandson, Charles Pearson.
Visitation will take place on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. The funeral will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Covell Funeral Home in Kingsley. A private burial is planned for the spring at Downs Cemetery in Buckley, Michigan.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Kingsley.

Although I hadn't seen Alva in quite awhile. I always enjoyed her company. Especially her smile and her quick wit. And lots of coffee. know she will be missed immensely by her family. Sending healing prayers for all.
