Barb Jean Magel

She graduated from All Saints High School in Detroit, and married the love of her life Harold David Magel on July 25, 1953. Barbara was a stay at home mom, but occasionally worked part time at Kroger as well as Kimbells Grocery Store. Upon Harolds retirement from the Detroit Police Department in 1978, the family moved to Fife Lake where they built a new home, and spent many happy years there.

She was an active member or her community, being on the Fife Lake Library Board, Cemetery Board, a parishioner at St. Aloysius, and after her husbands death she joined the American Legion Auxillary Post # 219. She was an avid reader, and enjoyed playing cards; especially euchre and pinochle.

Barb is survived by her two daughters, Cindy Magel (Bob Kerr) and Debbie Rodriguez; grandchildren, David, John (Lisa) Rodriguez, and Rene (Steve) Malecki. Also surviving are great-grandchildren Mason, Robbie, Weston and Vivian; Brother, Bill (Chris) Bennett; Sister, Kay Cook; Brother in law Tom Magel; Sister in law Marilyn Schucker; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother James Bennett and son in law Robert Rodriguez.

Visitation for Barb will be held on Monday, April 22, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home, 300 N. Brownson Ave, Kingsley, MI. with a rosary being offered at 7:00 p.m. Her funeral mass will be on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. from St. Aloysius Church in Fife Lake with visitation at the church one hour prior to the service, Fr. Norm Dickson officiating.

Memorial contributions in her memory may be made to the Fife Lake Public Library or St. Aloysius Church.
